The IMAGETEAMTM (IT)3870 cordless scanneraddresses the needs of many applications. It isdesigned for tough industrial use, such as on loadingdocks, where shipping and receiving of materialsrequires the freedom to move around, and industrystandards recommend the use of linear bar codes andPDF417 codes on shipping labels. The cordlessscanner is also ideal for manufacturing applications,such as work-in-process, where safety may be anissue. Eliminating the cables prevents the cord fromgetting entangled in machinery and equipment, thusavoiding the chance of an accident. Other applicationsinclude interfacing to RF LAN based terminalsmounted on forklift trucks, tool crib management,asset tracking, inventory control, and point-of-saleterminals.

The IT3870 joins a family of rugged and reliablecordless products, including the SCANTEAM 2070host interface base unit. The IT3870PDF is designedfor aggressive reading performance on PDF417 andMicroPDF417. The IT3870HD reads high density barcodes with dimensions as small as 3 mil., while theIT3870LX reads 15 mil. codes out to 18 inches. Allthese configurations feature an IP 54 sealed-enclosurerating and the industry s best drop specificationfor cordless scanners.

The IT3870 features linear imaging technology in acordless bar code reader. A bright, sharp aiming lineand high-resolution imaging combine to deliver barcode reading performance that was previously onlypossible using a laser scanner.

The IT3870 offers many advantages over a laserscanner. Its aiming line is brighter than a standardlaser. It scans and decodes 270 times per second,about seven times faster than a laser. It can read allcommon linear bar codes, plus PDF417 andMicroPDF417. Thanks to onboard Flash memory, thereader can be easily upgraded when new featuresand new symbologies become available.
