The IBM 4855 AnyPlace Checkout Model 73E is iron grey and has a 17-inch display, infrared touch, AMD Sempron processor, 2 GB memory, 80 GB HDD, WEPOS preloaded, and IOR.

The AnyPlace Checkout solution features CHEC software, which delivers a robust self-checkout environment with a rich user interface, simple manageability, and tight integration with Point-of-Sales (POS). IBM self-checkout clients have the added benefit of being able to run the same CHEC software on regular front-end lanes and the AnyPlace Checkout solution. This enables a consistent consumer experience, a common POS integration approach, and easier manageability.

This solution delivers ease of use and convenience for consumers looking for a choice to use express, cashless self-checkout. It also enables flexibility for retailers to offer self-service checkout in new, creative ways. AnyPlace Checkout innovates the way that consumers transact business.

The AnyPlace Checkout combines the compact form factor of the kiosk with self-checkout capabilities to extend and complement IBM's proven self-checkout solution offerings. This solution offers ease of use and convenience for consumers who are looking for a choice to use express, cashless self-checkout. It can handle a small number of items more easily and faster with easy payment by credit or debit.

AnyPlace Checkout gives retailers the flexibility to offer self- checkout virtually anywhere with its compact footprint. It broadens self-checkout placement to in-store locations like deli and floral departments as well as to small store formats with limited space. AnyPlace Checkout enhances the consumer experience by offering a fast and convenient self-checkout option in more places than ever before. This affordable solution lowers total cost of ownership, and its cashless design reduces support costs. The AnyPlace Checkout solution leverages CHEC V6.2 software, which delivers a robust self-checkout environment with its highly intuitive user interface, simple manageability, and industry-leading tight integration with POS. This software also runs traditional self-checkout lanes.

The Omni barcode scanner, an optionally orderable feature, can be easily attached at the bottom of the AnyPlace Checkout. It enables easy scanning of items.

The AnyPlace Checkout kiosk compact form factor enables custom enclosures to meet retailers' needs. Such enclosures can be designed by IBM or any approved third-party enclosure partner. The following items are the responsibility of the customer and must be provided by either the customer or integrator:

• The enclosure or stand to procure and to certify for safety and ADA requirements.

• The payment device to procure and integrate.

• The receipt printer must be procured separately.

• The USB keyboard/mouse for installation assistance is the customer's responsibility to provide.

• CHEC Client Application V6.2
• Windows Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS) preloaded and CHEC software, including IBM DB2, RMA and JavaPOS

The IBM Self Checkout Solution lane and the Back-Office System Server work together to create a self checkout solution. One BOSS is required per store. The BOSS manages shopper assistants, quick lookups and item security features for up to 20 lanes and IBM AnyPlace Checkout kiosks in each store. The BOSS Model, 4845-BW4, supports CHEC lane software.

Back-Office Server (BOSS) requirements

• New AnyPlace Checkout customers need to order 4845-BW4 Back Office Server ; one BOSS required per store
• Existing IBM Self Checkout customers running Legacy software (5.x) on their lanes already have a BOSS; however, they need to order 4845-BW4 Back Office Server to manage their AnyPlace Checkout running CHEC software.
• Existing customers with CHEC software on their IBM Self Checkout lanes can use their existing Back Office System Server(BOSS) to manage AnyPlace Checkout and their regular lanes.

WEPOS Preload AnyPlace Checkout Models 53E AND 73E

Clients who purchase these products directly from IBM must sign the ICA Attachment for Certain Microsoft Windows Embedded Operating Systems, Z125-7894 (US) or INTC-7894, which documents unique terms that apply to these products. This Attachment is not required for purchases from IBM Business Partners.
